Presenters: Roberta Anderson, Food Alliance; Loel Solomon, Kaiser Permanente; John Turenne, Sustainable Food Systems; Jamie Moore, Parkhurst Dining

A sustainable food purchasing policy serves as a powerful foundation for an institution seeking to implement more ecologically sound and socially responsible practices, and communicate with suppliers, customers and the public about these efforts.  Food Alliance is developing a guide to help create and implement practical sustainable food purchasing policies. This panel led the audience through the steps of developing an effective policy, and food service operators shared their successes and challenges in putting sustainable food purchasing into action.
